About our destination

Morocco has been a popular destination for surfers since the 1950s, given it has amazing features such as long waves of varying difficulty, rich Moroccan culture, fantastic gastronomy, and a unique atmosphere. We made our first trip to Imsouane more than 15 years ago when only seen a few fishermen's hand-assembled cottages. Loads of things has changed since: the huge and beautiful bayes, with a perfect waves, beckoned the adventurous surfers even then. The specialty of the wave is its length and softness, thanks to the topographical conditions of the seabed, they are beautifully built and during low tide they offer a sense of success even for beginners, and naturally, at high tide they are a challenge for the more experienced. More skilled surfers if they’re lucky enough, are able to spend minutes on a single wave, which makes the bay of Imsouane a special place in the World.

As the years went by, a few apartments and villas were slowly built and tailored for European needs, that’s when the first surfing schools also appeared. We come back here whenever we can, several times a year, typically in December, February and April, when it's too cold in Europe anyway, and that's when the best waves come outside.

Our accomodation

There are some accommodations where it's good to arrive, open the windows that open onto the huge ocean, breathe the air in and lie down on a comfortable chair at the terrace with a glass of mint tea or gin and tonic. Fortunately, ours is just like that. Depending on the number of people, we have either the entire apartment building or the best 4-5-person apartments, where breakfast and dinner made from traditional elements are served by our hosts on our own terrace. Dinner is typically timed for sunset to make the atmosphere even more idyllic. The accommodation is a few minutes' walk from the surfing spot, you only need to walk down to the beach with (y)our boards. Those with a keen eye can even spot the attempts of others from the terrace.

The Bay and the Cathedral

Much has been said about the special bay where surfing lessons take place. On our tour, experienced international instructors teach the basics throughout your entire stay and are able to help the advanced ones for 2-2.5 hours on occasion. Due to the characteristics of the location, the experience of success is guaranteed, but it depends on the individual characteristics whether it is on the first or the fourth day. The water temperature ranges from 16 to 20 degrees practically all year round, which is why the equipment includes a wetsuit of the right size, so no one will get cold in the water.

A little extra: those who still feel energy and motivation can practice outside of class, as the equipment is also available, depending on the package chosen.

Next to the Bay, on the other side of the bay, there is a spot called “Cathedral point”, where we typically only go when the waves are small.

The friendly local vibe remains even in the water, no one will look down on beginners, in fact, you can experience a supportive and helpful environment. The pictures below are our own photos taken on our previous tours.
